Ko waimātou | About us
We work in partnership with our communities, general practices and other health providers to provide services and support to improve the health and wellbeing of people in our communities, all while aiming to make Canterbury the best place to receive and provide health care.
Working with our communities means being committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working in a bicultural manner to improve equitable access and outcomes for Māori. We’re committed to improving equitable access and outcomes for Pacific, CALD, LGBTQI+ and other priority populations.
That includes recognizing the importance of diversity and we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive working environment. We want our people to reflect our communities and actively encourage applications from diverse backgrounds.
This role is in the Community Respiratory Service team, part of the sector-wide Integrated Respiratory Service which comprises tertiary, secondary and community healthcare services for people with or at risk of lung disease.
Ko tāuake mahi | What you will be doing
This role is for an experienced nurse who will support patients with breathing problems as well as be part of the team to deliver Better Breathing Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes across Canterbury. You will be part of the Community Respiratory team and participate in strategic planning and service design.
You will also work with the volunteers who deliver and support the ongoing community exercise groups.
The role is currently part-time. Patient visits and Better Breathing programmes are run weekdays throughout the year and there may be some district travel involved (e.g., Rangiora, Ashburton) but the role is based at Pegasus Health.
Ko ngāpūkengaōu | What you will bring
We seek a candidate with at least five years’ clinical nursing experience, adult teaching and excellent communication skills. Experience in chronic conditions management and especially respiratory health are very desirable.
