Nursing Team Leader | Kaihautū

We’re looking for a dynamic and compassionate Registered Nurse to step into a leadership role at the Pegasus Health 24 Hour Surgery — someone who brings clinical expertise, a genuine love for people, and the ability to bridge the realities of frontline care with leadership.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of urgent care nursing in Canterbury, working alongside a passionate team in a fast-paced, high-trust environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Acute Care Nursing Team Leader, you’ll:

  • Provide professional leadership and support to our nursing team
  • Deliver high-quality urgent care with a community focus
  • Champion clinical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Support nursing development through coaching, education, and mentoring
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align clinical practice with leadership goals
  • Navigate the tension between clinical realities and operational priorities with empathy and clarity

This role is 32 hours per week, including some rostered clinical shifts.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years post-registration experience, with a strong acute care background
  • Orthopaedic experience is an advantage, though not a prerequisite
  • Postgraduate study completed or in progress
  • Proven clinical leadership and outstanding communication skills
  • A passion for people, teamwork, and improving healthcare outcomes
  • Ability to lead with empathy, clarity, and confidence — especially under pressure
  • Experience working across clinical and management boundaries
