Mō te tūnga| Role Overview

The Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) is an integral part of the general practice team, working directly with individuals and whānau to help improve their mental health and wellbeing by delivering brief, consultation-based services and behavioural interventions to team members and general practice patients for both mental health and physical health conditions.

Mōu| About you

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a relevant registered health professional qualification and full registration without conditions under one of the following:  Health Practitioners Competency Assurance (HPCA) Act, DAPAANZ, Social Work Registration Authority (SWRB), or New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) with Te Whatu Ora Accreditation.
  • Have 3+ years of experience working within a counselling/mental health environment (including drug and alcohol support services) delivering talking therapies for example ACT, CBT, FACT.
  • Be self-motivated and organised, with a helpful, flexible, positive, and adaptable disposition.
  • Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to develop relationships with a wide variety of people.
  • Good computer literacy with a willingness to learn new systems.
